A freelance eLearning designer from Nottingham, UK, offering instructional design of engaging digital learning.

about.
I'm a freelance eLearning designer based in Nottingham, UK, with 15 years' experience under my belt. I've worked in-house and for eLearning agencies, as a designer and as a digital learning manager.
I love getting to grips with raw content and turning it into engaging digital learning. I can help with your learning design and storyboarding or scripting content ready for build.
I found my career in eLearning before I'd even finished my degree.
01/
I worked as a proofreader and tester at an eLearning company called BYG Systems in Nottingham, using my attention to detail to find any flaws in what we'd built so our customers didn't have to.
02/
I started as an instructional designer.
I came back after I graduated and spent 3 years in the instructional design team, quickly progressing from scriptwriter, to senior instructional designer. Working creatively with some massive brands and organisations straight out of uni was a privilege.
Next I moved to the in-house team at Boots headquarters for 8 years.
03/
Here I took on the end-to-end design of eLearning from instructional design to build and graphic design. I love the ownership this gave me over the entire creative process.
For my last 3 years at Boots I had the pleasure of leading our team of eLearning designers as digital learning design manager, which gave me invaluable leadership skills and digital learning strategy insight from within an organisation.

Available for hire!
Now I'm using my varied background and creative skills as a freelancer, diversifying and enjoying getting involved in new projects with different organisations.

I specialise in the up front learning experience design, discussing content with subject matter experts, scripting and storyboarding engaging digital learning for build in Storyline, Rise, Adapt or any bespoke platform.

"Charlotte is the complete elearning designer. Whether it's setting out the vision of a new learning programme, performing a pure instructional designer role or taking a project all the way from inception to release, she always brings quality, creativity and commitment.
Learning Pool's new Future Skills suite is a product of those attributes. Led by Charlotte, this product pushes the boundaries of our authoring tools, is optimised for our LXP and has helped set a new standard for our library content. What's more, having established the perfect blueprint for this project, Charlotte has brought other Learning Designers up to speed and supported their work as this groundbreaking content library expands.
Beyond Future Skills, Charlotte has also been involved with a number of other projects for Learning Pool and has consistently delivered to the highest standard whatever the subject, authoring tool or timeline."
"A random LinkedIn search led me to Charlotte’s door, so it was a leap of faith to commission her to help us deliver our first major eLearning project for one of our most important clients.

But I instantly felt reassured by her understanding and confidence, not only in what we were setting out to achieve on a technical level, but also what we were aiming for on a creative level.

It just felt like we were speaking the same language. We collaborated and delighted in finding new and imaginative ways to bring the raw content to life and ended up with a bold and creative set of eLearning modules that our client was thrilled with. Along the way, she never missed a deadline, and never went over budget, which on a project that evolved over a six month period was very impressive.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her, apart from the fact that I don’t want her to get so busy she’s never free to work on our future projects!"

"It was always a joy to see an email from Charlotte pop-up in my inbox. I was always excited to see how she had used her creativity and expertise to bring the ideas I shared with her to life as digital learning. And I was never disappointed.
There are a number of reasons I would recommend Charlotte to others. Firstly, she's got deep expertise and know-how about eLearning. Secondly, she is SO creative when it comes to presenting and sharing complex ideas in an engaging, practical and fun way. Thirdly, she was a joy to partner with - delivering amazing work on time and in budget.
Whilst I love getting positive feedback about our digital wellbeing and job crafting courses, the credit should go to Charlotte. And it's always a joy to recommend her."
